July 9 Concert: The Ragbirds
The Highland Downtown Development Authority welcomes the Ragbirds to Highland Station for the Sounds Like Summer Outdoor Concert Series kickoff on July 9. Led by the energetic and fiery front woman and songwriter Erin Zindle, who skillfully switches between violin, mandolin, banjo, accordion, and percussion, in addition to singing lead vocals (all while dancing!) The Ragbirds musical roots are firmly embedded in the soil of rhythm, ancient and new, incorporating Americana, Gypsy, Celtic, and Latin influences with drums from all over the world, mixing African poly-rhythms and Afro-Cuban tumbao, over sometimes rock, hip-hop or reggae style drum-kit, all designed to get people both listening and up and dancing!
In live performances the band incorporates variations on traditional African drum pieces, each member trading their instrument for a nearby hand drums. The band has a strong belief in the lyricism of poetry and positive music, and the power of dance-able rhythm. More information on the Ragbirds is available at their website: www.theRagbirds.com.

July 23: Jill Jack
Jill Jack has dominated Detroit's folk/rock scene for the past decade... each year and each album, her voice becomes more clearly defined as uniquely her own. Jill now celebrates the release of her newest CD, "Moon and the Morning After", a collection of Jill's most honest, raw, and comfortable songs to date... many have a vintage feel, allowing Jill's love for Patsy Cline and Elvis, along with her strong admiration for gospel, to all intertwine into this bluesy, Memphisy kind of vibe. July 30: Domingo
Using sensuous melodies, wonderfully constructed songs and exceptional musicianship, Domingo has combined the complementary elements of Flamenco guitar, Nu-Jazz and Latin Rock, creating a unique sound and musical landscape.
Domingo Corpus is a multi-genre musician and recording artist - one of those creative individuals who doesn’t believe in categories or boundaries. Whether its, Rock, Classical, Jazz, Blues or Flamenco Rumba, live performance or in the studio recording, Domingo is constantly blending and mixing musical influences. An accomplished Bassist and Performer, who has shared stages with some of Detroit’s most notable rock musicians, Domingo found a love for the Flamenco guitar and began to study this latest style, embarking on a wonderfully romantic musical crossing.
Departing the "Rock" world, Domingo, along with long time friend, guitarist and musical collaborator Steve Tarnowsky, decided to pursue his love of Flamenco. As the influences began weaving through the music and compositions materialized, performance became the natural next step. Realizing that the music needed that extra kick only a rock rhythm section could bring, Domingo recruited help from his cousin, drummer Lorenzo Gonzalez. Having spent 8 years as part of a successful rhythm unit, Lorenzo enlisted fellow players, bassist Michael Massie and rhythm guitarist John Sullens to help solidify the bands foundation.
This exceptional group of musicians, who through the course of their careers have graced such stages as…The Fox Theater…The Emerald Theater…The Palace… Soaring Eagle Casino…The Fillmore… DTE Music Theater, promise a performance that will captivate, exhilarate, and astound you. If you have the opportunity to see Domingo, you will experience an evening of Romance! Excitement! & Celebration!
