Parking & Traffic
Where should I park?
Parking is available throughout Historic Downtown Highland and surrounding public parking areas. Many visitors choose to park at Highland Elementary School, which serves as the primary event parking area.
Please note that vehicles parked at Highland Elementary are parked at the owner's risk due to the proximity of the fireworks launch area. While every effort is made to conduct the fireworks display safely, there is a possibility of falling debris.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is available in front of the Highland Township Offices.
No Parking / Tow Away Zone
Parking is strictly prohibited in front of the Highland Township Police Department. Vehicles parked in this area will be towed to ensure emergency vehicle access.
When should I arrive?
We recommend arriving early to enjoy the food trucks, vendor market, family activities, and to find a great viewing location before the fireworks begin.
What should I expect after the fireworks?
Please expect heavy traffic immediately following the fireworks display. Allow extra time when leaving the event and follow the directions of police officers and event staff.
What Should I Bring?
To make the most of your Red, White & Blues Festival experience, we recommend bringing:
- Lawn chairs or picnic blankets for live music and fireworks viewing
- Beach towels for children enjoying the Highland Township Fire Department Water Spray
- Sunscreen and hats for daytime activities
- Water bottles to stay hydrated
- Bug spray for the evening
- Cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payment apps such as Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal are commonly accepted by many vendors; however, payment methods vary by business.
Please dress comfortably and be prepared to spend the evening enjoying all that Historic Downtown Highland has to offer!
Food Court & Vendor Market
When do the food trucks and vendor market open?
The Food Court and Vendor Market open at 5:00 PM and remain open throughout the evening while vendors are serving.
What payment methods do vendors accept?
Most vendors accept cash, credit/debit cards, and popular mobile payment apps such as Venmo, Cash App, and PayPal; however, payment methods vary by business.
What will I find at the Vendor Market?
Browse a variety of local businesses, artisans, specialty vendors, and community organizations while enjoying great food and family-friendly entertainment.
Can I leave and come back?
Yes! Feel free to explore Historic Downtown Highland, visit local businesses, and return to enjoy the evening festivities.
Fireworks
What time do the fireworks begin?
The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:00 PM. The exact start time may vary slightly depending on weather and safety conditions.
Where is the best place to watch the fireworks?
The fireworks can be viewed from many locations throughout the event grounds. We recommend arriving early to find a comfortable viewing location and bringing lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
Can I bring my own fireworks?
No. Personal fireworks are prohibited within the event area to ensure the safety of all attendees.
Will the fireworks be canceled if it rains?
Not necessarily. The fireworks may be delayed if weather conditions require it. Any schedule changes or cancellations will be announced on the Highland DDA Facebook page and the official Red, White & Blues Festival Facebook Event.
The fireworks are launched from a secured area near the event grounds. Please respect all barricades, safety zones, and instructions from event staff!

What happens if it rains?
The Red, White & Blues Festival is an outdoor event, and weather conditions are continuously monitored throughout the day. Depending on the severity of the weather, activities and the fireworks display may be delayed, modified, or canceled for the safety of our guests, volunteers, performers, and staff.
How will I know if there are changes?
Any weather-related updates or schedule changes will be posted on the Highland DDA Facebook page and the official Red, White & Blues Festival Facebook Event as soon as information becomes available.
How should I prepare?
Michigan weather can change quickly! We recommend checking the forecast before heading out and dressing for the conditions. Don't forget sunscreen, water, and bug spray for a comfortable evening outdoors.
Safety & Accessibility
Are restrooms available?
Yes. Portable restrooms are conveniently located throughout the event grounds. Please refer to the Event Map for locations.
Is accessible parking available?
Yes. Accessible parking is available in front of the Highland Township Offices.
How can I help keep everyone safe?
